June 24th sees the return of our wildly popular and entertaining Bark in the Park, Cute Dog Contest. You’ll definitely feel the energy and excitement at this event. Be sure to hang around after the show for great classical rock music from The Joint Chiefs!

On July 15, stop by for Cookin’ in the Commons, as local chefs show you what good cooked food is all about! And don’t miss the Bob Lauder Band as they show us a totally rockin’ good time.

On July 29th, check out the creative talent at Our Local Artisans event, and then see what area green businesses and groups are doing in Green Up Poolesville. And what better way to top off a great market then with Ernie Bradley and the Grassy Ridge Band, the best traditional bluegrass band, anywhere!

Mark August 19th on your calendars! Golden summer days spent at a farmers’ market make for great childhood memories; so stop by for an Afternoon and Evening of Fun for Kids. It will be awesome. And the adults (and kids too!) will love listening to the truly great legendary blues musician Jay Summerour.

About The Market

Poolesville Farmers’ Market is an old-fashion, small town get together held four times a year at Whalen Commons in Poolesville, Maryland, in the heart of Montgomery County’s Agricultural Reserve. The Poolesville Community and Economic Development Committee manages the market.

The market is a wonderful place to relax on Friday evening with family and friends. You can shop by for locally grown produce, fruits, cheese, and meats. Enjoy fresh baked goods. Pick up some handmade soap. Buy some locally made arts and crafts. Our music is world class, our side events fun and entertaining.

Make an evening of it! Bring your lawn chairs and Frisbees and have dinner on the Commons, or after you’ve done your shopping, stop by one of Poolesville’s many fine restaurants for dinner or drinks.

This is a great place to meet directly with your consumers. In 2010, our markets attracted between 200 and 500 people. Parking is easy, our fees our low, and our events are fun!

News

July 29, 2011: Celebrate Local Artisans. Joe Stebbings will be at the market demonstrating his amazing carving skills. If you attended our Holiday Lighting Ceremony last year you may have seen his ice carvings - come on out to the market and check out his wood carvings. There will also be spinning, weaving and jewelry making demonstrations.

June 8, 2011: We are delighted that the Button Farm Living History Center will be joining us at each of the four markets. It is truly a remarkable place. Located on 60 acres off Black Rock Road in Germantown, this working farm not only produces great vegetables, but also depicts 19th Century slave plantation life. The farm features a civil war-era barn, historic outbuildings, livestock pens, museum garden, and slave cemetery and is home to The Underground Railroad Immersion Experience, a dramatic reenactment of the journey from slavery to freedom.
