City offices are located in the Town Hall. The telephone number is (301) 428-8927. As an incorporated town, Poolesville has its own local government. Although independent of the Montgomery County government for economic reasons, the county performs many functions for the town.
Zoning and planning process, for the purpose of directing and shaping the growth and development of the town, is done by the Poolesville Planning Commission. For construction, the Planning Commission approves the site plans and Montgomery County issues the building permits. Code enforcement is shared between the town and the county.
Water and sewer services are provided by the town's own water and sewer system. The municipal water system is serviced by eight wells. The Wastewater Treatment Plant was built in 1986. The water and sewer bills are issued quarterly.
The town maintains the streets, parks, and provides for landscaping and snow removal.
The Parks Commission operates the town parks, tennis courts, tot-lots and hiker-bike paths. Various athletic events take place at Poolesville High School. Montgomery County operates a swimming pool constructed near the center of town.
